Rhiannon Emily James
Recent graduate Surface Pattern Design at Swansea Metropolitan University.
I am inspired by nature, natural shapes and forms, floral prints, and hand embroidery.
I start all projects by drawing, mainly with black fine line pens. I then scan my drawings into Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create motifs and patterns. When I am happy with my designs, I dye my fabric, put my image onto a silk screen, and use an illuminating discharge solution to remove the dye and add colour to the pattern design by screen printing by hand. I work with layers to add different images and colour to my designs.
